YMCA HAWKER JUNIOR PROGRAMME
Paul delivers the beginner and improver programme at the YMCA Hawker Centre. This includes regular term time lessons, and group lessons during the Easter and Summer holidays.
There are three levels of junior lessons in the beginner and improver programme:
- beginner lessons for players starting their tennis journey;
- improver lessons for players who have some experience playing tennis and are starting to play matchplay;
- development squads for players that are demonstrating more commitment to play tennis at least 2-3 times a week.

Please note the programme has been oversubscribed during the last few terms and there are very limited spaces available. Waiting lists are available to join for classes that are full.

Saturday Match Play
Saturday Match Play is open to players who are ready to take that next step in competing in a fun and friendly environment.
Modified balls, smaller courts and time friendly formats are just some of the key features of this innovative competition aimed at getting young tennis players interested in the game of tennis and, in particular, competition tennis.
Match Play for beginner and improver players is run on Saturdays at the YMCA Hawker Centre for red, orange, green and yellow ball players.
Having seen the amazing improvements made by young players that play at least twice a week, and in particular, by playing friendly competition, attending matchplay is definitely recommended.
How to Register for Match Play
Improver Match Play is organised through the app 'Spond'.
All communication, including new event dates and results are communicated through the Spond App. All registrations will need to be made by confirming your attendance to the Match Play event through Spond.
To join the Match Play Spond group, please click on the link at the top of the page entitled 'Join Match Play'. You will be required to download the app, create an account and the enter the group code.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to download the app, you can still receive communication and join events by email/phone. If this is the case, please email paulstowtenniscoaching@outlook.com and you will be manually added to receive event invitations.
Downloading the Spond app is recommended for a better user experience.
Once you have downloaded the app, you will be able to view the Match Play events, register attendance and pay the registration fee for each event.
Other Junior Competitions
Hawker Tennis also run an annual Summer Tournament in July and FA Cup Tennis, which is held later in the year. These events are a great opportunity to put into practice, what the players have learned in group lessons and matches during the year.
For stronger players, there is also the opportunity to participate in Team Tennis, representing Hawker Tennis against other tennis clubs in the area.
