Match play and competition sit at the heart of Paul’s coaching programme.
As a junior player, Paul experienced first-hand how important competition is to long-term development, and this philosophy now underpins everything he delivers on court.
The majority of sessions include point-based play, constraints-led activities and game-like scenarios that closely replicate the real demands of tennis. This approach helps players understand the purpose of the sport from an early age, accelerating learning and development beyond simple drills or isolated games.
Paul has extensive experience developing match play at Red, Orange, Green and Yellow Ball levels, catering for beginners, improvers and advanced players. Competition formats are carefully tailored to suit each player’s developmental stage and include short matches, timed matches and longer-format scoring.
Hot Shots / Mini Tennis match play is used as a powerful introduction to competitive tennis, delivered in a friendly and supportive environment. This pathway naturally leads players into more structured forms of competition, including team tennis and individual tournaments.
